From the website : "Freedom is an application that disables networking on an Apple computer for up to eight hours at a time. Freedom will free you from the distractions of the internet, allowing you time to code, write, or create. At the end of your selected offline period, Freedom re-enables your network, restoring everything as normal. "Freedom enforces freedom; a reboot is the only circumvention of the Freedom time limit you specify. The hassle of rebooting means you're less likely to cheat, and you'll be more productive. When first getting used to Freedom, I suggest using the software for short periods of time."Do I dare to use it?

  1. Oh yes, you dare. Then let us know if no distractions distracted you more than many.

  2. Dear Humans,

Please proceed with installation of "Freedom" (we're particularly proud of that name). In the coming months, you will all be issued new software and hardware modules: "Flight," which ensures productivity by locking you into your desk chair for a specified amount of time; "Feast," which keeps the refrigerator door closed and prevents unhealthy snacking; and "Fantasy," which uses a brainstem implant to prevent daydreaming and focus your attention on the task at hand.

Thank you for your prompt compliance,
    Skynet

  3. I downloaded this application a few days ago. Unfortunately, my computer froze both times that I tried to use it (and I was then forced to do a hard restart).

I'm not sure if it's just my computer, but I figured I would give you or anybody else who is thinking of using it a heads-up.
